Simply Gorgeous

It's very special when you get different generations coming together to celebrate their family and I really enjoyed today's shoot in London. I will be editing them over the next couple of weeks but just wanted to share a couple with you now.

The flowerbeds in Kensington Palace Gardens were stunning - who could resist this little angel and these incredible flowers? She was as adorable to work with as she looks.

Adding Value: How to create a brand photography style for clients

If you are not interested in undertaking any commercial commissions then this post is not really relevant. Personally, I have found networking to be a powerful marketing tool which has delivered work in unexpected areas. You may find that it provides the opportunity to get a little creative whilst also adding value – so what’s not to like?

When creating brand identities at Lambie-Nairn we would often consider whether it was possible to provide clients with some kind of ownable photography style. With the proliferation of stock photography many corporations end up with the same kind of imagery.

Making it unique can be as simple as fav
ouring a certain angle of view, highlighting key areas with spot colour or treating whole images in a way that reflects the brand identity. Take my recent work with a local bespoke furniture designer. DJ Bespoke have settled on a clean, modern identity that clearly reflects the genre of furniture that they make.

What I felt was missing was the element of ‘hand made’ or ‘bespoke’ – a key differentiator in a world of mass production. We worked together to create some images for their website that showed Dave in his workshop – using his hands to create beautiful results. This kind of shoot is not breaking new ground so in order to make it more unique I treated the images using their brand colour palette. Simple but effective. Adding value and giving ownership.

Hey Jude

It's wonderful to be given the opportunity to photograph a woman enjoying her pregnant form like this. But the best bit is to go back and meet the bump in person.

Last week I spent a morning with 5 week old Jude. Capturing his tiny hands and feet, taking beautiful pictures of him with his mum and getting the cutest of pictures like this one.

I'll be adding some more photographs from the newborn shoot to my website soon.

Bluebell Woods and Family Love

The gorgeous Ellis family are soon to move back to South Africa and wanted to take a piece of England home with them. Spring bluebell displays are such a beautiful backdrop for family portrait photography - give me that over a white studio every time.

It was a very relaxed session with time for the kids to play and pick flowers, search for frogs and wood fairies...

Bertie

I did some work for Orme Creative yesterday which included photographing their dog, Bertie.

This was such a cute picture of him that I couldn't resist adding a bit of nostalgia...
